Gavin Kyle Green has boosted his hopes of qualifying for the European Tour season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
This comes after the 25-year-old notched his best Tour result of the season by coming in fifth at the Belgian Knockout in Antwerp on Sunday.
Gavin was eliminated in the match-play quarter-finals but was fifth in the final standings by virtue of having the best two-round total score during the stroke play qualifying round.
The Malaysian pocketed €42,400 and propelled himself from 87th to 67th position in the season-long Race to Dubai standings.
Only the top 60 finishers will get to play in the lucrative $8 milion Tour Championship, which will be held at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
With 364.4 points from 13 starts, Gavin trails 60th placed Chris Paisley (392.5) of England by just 28.1 points.
Gavin’s decent finish in Belgium also helped him to climb 31 spots to No. 215 on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
It is important for Gavin to keep himself in the top 300 if he wants to compete in his second Olympic appearance in Tokyo next year.
Gavin is ranked 51st in the Olympic golf rankings.
