The Gary Player Invitational is back next week (Sunday January 13) and there is a star-studded field confirmed for the charity golf series.
Taking place at the award-winning Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, this year’s event will see more than 72 golf pros, celebrities and business leaders join tournament host and Grand Slam Champion, Gary Player himself.
The event will also play homage to the UAE’s Year of Tolerance, with a tonne of activations and events going on across the day, including a UAE Tolerance Gala, hosted at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and an Inclusivity Roundtable addressed by Player.
Among the male golf pros confirmed is the 2018 European Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn, Matt Wallace, the reigning champion of the Indian Open, BMW International Open and Made in Denmark, British Masters champion Eddie Pepperell and India’s top ranked player, winner of the Maybank Championship and Joburg Open, and the 2018 European Tour’s Rookie of The Year, Shubhankar Sharma.
Representing the women will be European Tour pros Camilla Lennart, Carly Booth, Amy Boulden and Cheyenne Woods, winner of the inaugural Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open (FBM Ladies Open).
American golfer Beth Allen will also be taking part, as well as the yet-to-be confirmed winner of FBM Ladies Open which, in 2019 will directly precede the Gary Player Invitational at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club this weekend.
Proceeds from the event will go to The Player Foundation, which has selected local event beneficiary, the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs as its charity of choice.
